WATERVILLE — Waterville police were involved in a car chase Friday night, but did not apprehend the suspect out of safety concerns, according to officials. Police say they know the suspect.
The chase initially started on Elm Street when an officer attempted a motor vehicle stop, which turned into a probation check. At that point, the suspect took off on foot, but quickly returned to the vehicle and took off.
Sgt. Scott Dumas said although the officer initially started to pursue the suspect’s car, the chase was ended out of safety concerns and because police know who the suspect is.
The incident is currently under investigation.
