AUGUSTA — Firefighters extinguished a blaze Sunday afternoon at a shed attached to a house at 99 Green St. in Augusta, preventing flames from spreading to the home.
Reported at 12:32 p.m., the fire began in an outside storage area, spreading to the shed connected to the house and an unattached shed used to store wood, some of which caught fire, according to firefighters.
City property records show the house is owned by Cynthia Hallowell.
A small crew of firefighters, whom Augusta Fire Chief Dave Groder hailed for preventing the fire from spreading, were at the scene for about an hour.
Groder said the fire’s cause was believed to have been accidental, but said Monday it was still being investigated.
