The classical music of the Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony Orchestras will be performed at 6:30 p.m. Sunday Dec. 5, at South Parish Congregational Church, 9 Church St., in Augusta.
The preparatory ensemble, Kennebec Valley Youth Orchestra conducted by Dan Keller, will perform selections from Corelli’s La Folia variations, Jean-Phillipe Rameau’s “Pièces de clavecin en concert” (Harpsichord concert pieces) and an arrangement of the lovely traditional tune Over the Sea to Skye.
Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony, conducted by Jinwook Park, will perform Mozart’s brilliant and familiar “Symphony #40” and Elgar’s challenging and deeply romantic rarely played treasure “Introduction and Allegro for string quartet and orchestra”. In the string quartet solos, home-schooled senior students Josh Rosenthal and Catherine Estes, along with UMO freshman Anna Berkes and Waterville High School sophomore Sophia Scheck will be celebrated.
