Catherine Cecelia (Glidden) Pelletier

GARDINER – Catherine Cecelia (Glidden) Pelletier, 83, passed away at the hospital on Nov. 28, 2021. Cathy was born in Prentiss, Maine on Sept. 30, 1938, the daughter of Lewis Glidden and Gertrude (Briggs) Dow.She attended Lee Academy until moving to Gardiner and attended and graduated from Gardiner High School. Cathy worked as a fancy stitcher for several local shoe companies. She then returned to school and graduated from Mid-State College with a degree in business and managed the Coffee Break Cafe in Gardiner. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and “Nana”, Cathy was very involved in her community and was the Administrator for the Gardiner Food Bank for 30 years, along with her husband Clarence. Cathy’s professionalism and dedication to the food bank resulted in her receiving a service award that was presented by former Senator Cohen. Cathy also was the Gardiner Warden for Elections for many years. She was also deeply involved in her church, St. Joseph’s in Gardiner. She also served the best goodies around at the Friday evening Bingo at the Knights of Columbus for many years. Catherine is survived by her husband of 64 years, Clarence Pelletier Sr.; daughters, Audrey and her husband David Stevens, Rhonda Pelletier and Catherine and her husband, Eric Duquette, two sons, Clarence Jr. and wife Janie and William (Bill) and wife Lori. Cathy; her grandchildren, Joey, Jadyn, Christopher, Brian, Scott, Nicole, Hayden, Katie, Sarah, Ryan, Megan, Rusty and Becky; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Alden Glidden and ½ brothers Greg and Geoff Dow.Cathy impacted many people over her years of service in her community and will especially be missed by her family and friends. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2, from 4 – 7 p.m., at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Dec. 3, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gardiner. Burial will take place in the spring.
