CLINTON — No injuries were reported when a barn was destroyed in a fire Thursday.
The barn was behind a home at 1205 River Road in Clinton and the flames were not able to spread because the barn was far enough away, according to a post on the Facebook page for Clinton Fire Rescue.
The post thanked fire agencies from surrounding towns for assisting in battling the fire, which occurred on River Road north of Peavey Road.
The fire call came in just before 5 p.m. Thursday. The flames were knocked down shortly after 6 p.m.
The residents of the home, Jonathan Hill and Coleen Kennedy, said in a brief phone conversation Friday that they didn’t know how the fire started. The two were out of town for the holidays when the fire began.
Clinton fire Chief Travis Leary could not be reached for comment.
