Winona “Nonie” Moreshead Smith
GRAND ISLAND, Fla. – Winona “Nonie” Moreshead Smith, 85, of Grand Island, Fla., died Dec., 2021, at home with her family present. Born in Gardiner, Maine, on Dec. 20, 1936, the daughter of George and Jennie (Ladner) Moreshead of West Gardiner. Winona attended West Gardiner grade schools and graduated from Gardiner High School in 1954. She attended the University of Maine, Orono for two years. She married Myron L. Smith on September 2, 1956. Following her husband, she had many part time jobs until a five year teaching aide job with special ed children near Milwaukee, Wis., then as a UPS clerk in Rhinelander, WI for eleven years and retired in 1988. Winona taught Sunday School grades 3-6 for many years, was a volunteer Red Cross blood drive leader, hospital auxiliary, Meals on Wheels driver and hospital gift shop. She is survived by her husband, Myron Smith, two sons, Nelson (Judy) of Middletown, OH, Dean of Wilmer, TX, and one daughter Valerie (Kevin) Robson of Grand Island, FL, Three grandsons, Brendan and Evan Smith and Hunter Robson, and one granddaughter Coral Robson.
