
Rodney Joseph Waldron
AUGUSTA – Rodney Joseph Waldron, 84, passed away Dec. 31, 2021 at the Veteran’s Home in Augusta. He was born June 22, 1937, a son of Royal Waldron and Rose Ann (Gouzie) Waldron.
Rodney grew up in Southern Maine and graduated from High School in Westbrook. Following school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and proudly served his country for several years. In January of 1961, he married Yvette LeClair and the two made their home in Augusta.
Rodney held several jobs upon his discharge from the military, and spent his last working years as a pharmacy technician for the VA Center in Togus. Following retirement, he continued to volunteer at the VA Center and donated much of his time to local charitable organizations such as the area food banks and preparing and serving meals at the soup kitchen. A devout catholic, Rodney was a eucharistic minister for several years for St. Michaels Parish and was a member of Abnaki Council #334 Knights of Columbus and Abnaki Assembly #346 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a proud member of the Marine Corps League.
Above all, Rodney was a devoted family man and beamed with pride when talking about his family.
He was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Betty Ann Tompkins; his daughter in law, Donna Williams; his grandchild, Travis Williams; two sisters Betty and Delia .
He is survived by his children, Ronnie Waldron and his wife Leslie, Nancy Bourget and her husband Bruce, and Harold Williams; siblings, Sally and Dennis and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 10, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Tuesday, January 11 at 11 a.m., at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 41 Western Ave., Augusta. Interment will take place at 1pm at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road., Augusta. Condolences, photos and stories may be shared at http://www.plummerfh.com.
