Daisy A. Smith

CHELSEA – Daisy A. Smith, 89, of Chelsea, Maine, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at the Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Facility in Waterville.

She was born in Chelsea, Maine, on March 6, 1932, the daughter of Earl and Anna (Richards) Williams. Daisy dedicated her life to building a strong family and connection to community in Chelsea. She continued to reside in Chelsea, where she raised her family. She worked various jobs throughout her life, including picking eggs for Lipman’s Poultry and cleaning homes for families in the Gardiner area. Daisy was a strong and willful woman who spent her time helping family build local businesses and caring for her many grandchildren. She enjoyed simple pleasures in life; crafts like sewing, crocheting and especially knitting. She used her crafting skills to make hats, mittens and scarves for family and community members. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents: Earl and Anna (Richards) Williams, three husbands: Robert Smith, Phillip Willett, and Albert Smith, her first daughter: Darlene, a partner: James Littlefield, and her brothers: Melvin Campbelton, Herbert Campbelton, and Woodrow Williams.

Daisy is survived by one brother, Raymond Williams, her daughter Roberta Morgan, son Robert Smith and wife Sally, daughter Carrie Magee and husband Paul, daughter Bertha Trussell and husband Chester, daughter Sandra Jones, daughter Nancy Martin, son Donald Willett and wife Diane, and son Timothy Willett and wife Wendy, as well as 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be a graveside service in the Spring, at the Riverside Cemetery in Pittston.
