AUGUSTA – Lugene W. Wallace, 83, of Augusta, passed away on Thursday Dec. 23, 2021 at Togus VA Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born in Brunswick on July 10, 1938, the middle son of Stanley Wallace, Sr. and Celia Jordan-Williams-Wallace. He was a graduate of Gardiner High School’s class of 1956.After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force. He married the former Constance Quirion, together they had three children. Lugene began a 30-year career with the railroad, from which he later retired. He spent time enjoying his favorite pastimes of fishing and snowmobiling. He was predeceased by his father in 1968, his mother in 2003; his son, Brian in 1994; his brothers Bob Williams in 2008 and Stanley Wallace in 2012, sisters-in-law Shirley Williams in 2015 and Joanne Wallace in 2012; and a grandson in 2013.He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Madsen and her husband Skip, son, Gary; brother, Earl Wallace and his wife Pat; granddaughter, Leah Madsen, her partner Richard Messer, grandson, Steve Madsen, his partner Brooke Chadbourne; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Hailey, Chloey and Brock; a niece and several nephews. A spring burial will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in South Gardiner.
