Florian “Babe” J. LaChance
WATERVILLE – Florian “Babe” J. LaChance, 94, passed away Jan. 25, 2022, at Lakewood Nursing Home in Waterville. He was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Waterville, the son of Anthony J. and Josephine LaChance.
He attended local schools and was employed for 41 years as a boiler operator for Scott Paper Company. He retired from there at the age of 59. He was a member of the Elks Club where he cooked very surprising meals (such a great chef), St Francis and Notre Dame Churches where he was very active in the Christian community. He cooked specialty dinners for Notre Dame Church which was his passion. He spent a great deal of time and effort collecting donations for the low-income residents. Where ever he went, everyone knew him and he will be sadly missed by all. Babe will be remembered for his kindness, giving, and thoughtfulness of others.
Florian is survived by children, Patsy M LaChance of New Gloucester, Paul J. LaChance and wife Jeannie of Fairfield, Mike LaChance and wife Sonya of Oakland; grandchildren, Danielle O’Neal, Alisha Simpson, Tobey LaChance, Jamin LaChance; great grandchildren, Alex Simpson, Keegan LaChance; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Joan.
A special “thank you” to the staff of Lakewood for the great care of Babe.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Babe’s memory to the local foodbanks or a favorite charity.
