AUGUSTA – Doris Royce passed away at the age of 95 on Jan. 29, 2022 at Glenridge Memory Care in Augusta. She was the last survivor of eight children. She was born in Clearwater, Fla.

She was the daughter of Loren and Fannie Overlock. Doris graduated from Cony High School in 1944. She married Richard Royce in 1949. They were married until his passing in 1988.

Doris worked as an executive secretary at Kirchner’s for many years and was very well liked by all who knew her. She was fiercely loyal to family and was a kind and generous person. She grew up during the great depression and was forever shaped by those times.

Doris is survived by her son John Royce and his wife Sandra of Augusta, her grandson Brandon and his wife Maryann and her grandson Ryan and his partner Brittney. She is also survived by her granddaughter Melissa Cantrell and her husband Jim of West Gardiner and great-grandson Richard Donovan of Hallowell. Doris was predeceased by her husband Richard Royce and daughter Charlene Donovan.

At her request there will be a private family gathering at a later date.
