Kathryn L. Chenevert
MADISON – Kathryn L. Chenevert, 65, of Madison, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday Jan. 28, 2022 with her husband and children by her side after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Kathryn graduated from Madison High School in 1974, which is where she met her first and forever love Peter Chenevert. It didn’t take long for Kathy and Pete to realize they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together, so they married in 1975 and shortly after moved to California for warmer weather and a change of scenery with their family’s blessings. After having two children, Kathy and Pete returned to Maine to raise their family.
Kathy worked at Sterns in Waterville which she loved and made many friends. She also worked as a Pharmacy Tech in Waterville for many years, and later in life she was a Custom Publisher and proofreader for a family business named Carbon Copy. Kathy worked there for nearly 20 years which she enjoyed immensely. Not only did she love her co-workers like family, but she was able to work with her son as well, which really made it a family affair.
Kathy’s most favorite role in her life without a doubt was being a grandmother, and an amazing one she was! Kathy never hesitated to help out her family and moved into her parents’ home with Peter to take care of her father and mother when they needed more support. She lived a life of dedication to her family and juggled so much with grace and gratitude. Kathy never forgot to help her community out as well, as she would donate to local charities throughout the year. Kathy’s most favorite past time was picking up toys to donate during the holidays, and always did so under the radar. She really was a Santa’s helper.
Her laugh was contagious, and her smile would brighten any room. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit, giving nature, and unlimited love will live on in the lives of those she touched.
Kathy was predeceased by her father, Ronald Smith and her mother, Jaqueline Smith of Madison.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Peter Chenevert of Madison; her son Shawn Chenevert and two grandchildren Adam and Katelyn of Madison, and her daughter Devin Chenevert and fiancé Kevin Quist of Stockholm, Maine. She also leaves behind her siblings, Michael Smith and family of Madison, her sisters Karen Lloyd and family of Wyman, and Karla Poulin and family of Belgrade; her aunt and best friend, Janice Wheeler and husband of Belchertown Mass.; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, http://www.SmartandEdwardsFH.com
In lieu of flowers, the family asks if you are so inclined, to make a donation to a charitable organization and keep Kathy’s generous spirit alive with helping in your own community
