He was educated in the Hall-Dale school system, playing football (#57) and saxophone in high school, graduating from Hall-Dale High School in 1986. In February 1987, he relocated to Paris, Tenn. and enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Martin, graduating in 1992 with honors and a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He then went on to receive his master’s degree in Biology (Environmental Studies) from Tennessee Tech University in 1995. He had been employed by Simmco Crane and Rigging since 2013 as the senior project manager of pipe and modular fabrication.
Roddy was predeceased by his loving and doting grandparents Hazel and Walter Myrick; his mother, Marsha; and his uncle, Douglas “Moose” Myrick.
He is survived by his wife, Christie; four children, daughter, Savannah Woodward, her husband Ryan and their two children, Henry and Oliver; sons Jacob and Eli; and Sam, his partner, Meredith and their son, Campbell “tomato soup”; stepsons Nijawan Currie, and his daughter, Ra’Nija “fuzzy head”; Anthony McAlister Jr., and De’terrian McAlister; two sisters-in-law, Tequilla Gray and Cherrica Gray, and two brothers-in-law, Jerrica Gray and Daricus Gray.

Roddy lived his life with reckless abandon. He was very candid and would talk with anyone about anything. He was bright, funny, and the king of inappropriate humor. He loved fiercely. He was a New England Patriots fan and a true Jimmy Buffet Parrot-head. But most importantly he was a husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He will be sorely missed and remembered with love.
A memorial service will be held at Allen Baptist Church on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 10 a.m. Allen Baptist Church is located at 5533 U.S. Highway 79 N, Brownsville, TN 38012.
