Jeanne N. Thibodeau Dale

AUGUSTA – Jeanne N. Thibodeau Dale, 76, of August, passed away on Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, after a brief illness surrounded by family and friends.

Jeanne was born on Saturday, Jan. 26, 1946, the youngest daughter of Walter and Delia Thibodeau. She was educated at St. Augustine’s Elementary School and graduated from Cony High School in 1964. She was employed by Riverside Elementary School, and for many years at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, retiring from there in 2019.

On Sept. 27, 1969, Jeanne married the love of her life, Timothy Dale. They were happily married for 50 years until his death in January 2020. They lived in Wisconsin briefly while Tim served our country in the United States Airforce. After Tim was discharged from his military service, they made their home on Church Hill Road in Augusta.

Jeanne was known as the social director often planning family gatherings, van trips and parties. She was an avid bingo player but would never tell us when she won. She was a long-time member of the Le Club Calumet where she volunteered on various activities of the club. She enjoyed spending time in the summer for over 40 years at Popham Beach with her family, and spending time with many friends, whether it was playing cards, going out to eat, shopping, or just getting in the car to see where the road would take her.

Jeanne had many titles and wore many hats throughout her life, but her most favorite was as Memere. Nothing put a bigger smile on her face then when she would get to see or spend time with her two grandchildren, Grace and Walker.

Jeanne was predeceased by her parents; her brothers Marcel and David Thibodeau, sisters Toni Laliberte and Mazie Gousse; and her husband, Timothy Dale.

She is survived by her daughters Michelle Dale of Augusta; and Leslie Dale Hustus (her favorite), and her husband Brandon, granddaughter Grace Jeanne Hustus and grandson Walker Lawrence Hustus of Chelsea. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Thibodeau and his wife Dot of Chelsea, sister, Claudette Jordan and her husband Tony of Augusta, sister, Carol Racine and her husband Bob of Sidney, and her sister-in-law, Karen MacMillian of Oakland; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Le Club Calumet, 334 West River Rd., Augusta.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Funeral Alternatives, 82 Western Avenue, Augusta. Condolences may be left for the family at https://www.funeralalternatives.net/obituaries.php.
