Simone Catherine Lavallee
FARMINGDALE – Simone Catherine Lavallee (Bonenfant), mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away at home in Farmingdale, Maine, on Feb. 11, 2022. She was 92 years old.
She was born in Augusta, Maine, on Feb. 28, 1929, the daughter of William Joseph Bonenfant, Sr. and Eva Marie (Lambert) Bonenfant and was educated in the Maine school system.
Simone was married in 1948 to her late beloved husband, Henry A. Lavallee Sr. for 59 years. Early in their marriage they moved to Malden, Massachusetts, and spent many happy years there raising their three children. While there, she put her excellent seamstress skills to work at a local textile mill. Upon retirement and successfully raising their children, Simone and Henry returned to their cherished state of Maine which always held a special place in her heart. Henry died March 3, 2007 and Simone showed her resilience and independence by living alone and caring for her home.
Simone’s family meant everything to her. She especially loved hosting card games for her family and friends. She also enjoyed birdwatching, collecting coins, making puzzles, and excelled in crocheting.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Henry A. Lavallee, Jr. and his wife Myra of Chesapeake, VA, Patricia Black and her husband Michael of Murphy, NC, and Tinamarie Gallagher of Windham, NH; her adored grandchildren Cheri Wittwer, Erin Adamonis, and Brian Gallagher and her cherished great grandchildren Ashton, Sofia, Mason, and Olivia.
Simone is survived by her brother William J. Bonenfant, Jr. of Gardiner, ME, her sister Lorraine Allen of Farmingdale, ME, sister-in-law Gloria Pollis of Gardiner, ME, and several nieces and nephews. Simone was predeceased by her sisters Theresa Anderson and Muriel Gurney, her brothers Clement Bonenfant and Arthur Bonenfant, and her son-in-law Robert Gallagher.
Committal service will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, ME.
