Evelyn Kent Sandy

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Beloved mother, grandmother, partner and friend, Evelyn Kent Sandy, 84, reached the end of her wonderful life on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022 with her son and partner in life by her side. Evelyn was a strong, gregarious person who touched everyone she met with her vivacious spirit. She will be greatly missed by many.

Evelyn was born on August 7, 1937, to Edward and Pauline Kent. She grew up with her siblings in Benton.

Evelyn met the love of her life, Roland, and moved to Southern Maine, working in Old Orchard Beach. Roland and Evelyn married and had two children whom she loved very much, Tracey Johnson and Mark Sandy. The family moved to Winslow when Tracey and Mark were very young, and where they lived for many years. Evelyn and Roland enjoyed dancing and playing golf, hobbies that Evelyn continued after Roland passed in 1988.

Evelyn moved to Zephyrhills, Fla. subsequent to Roland’s passing where she made her permanent home. She summered on Pattee Pond in Winslow where she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the rest of the Kent family. Evelyn met Grant Randall, her partner during her retirement years, in the early 1990s and they shared almost 30 years together.

In addition to sharing their lives and a home, Evelyn and Grant had a mutual love for IH Farmall Tractors, and attended many shows together. They were members of the Florida Fly Wheelers Antique Engine Club where they were very involved and made numerous friends.

Evelyn worked for many years at Cottle’s Grocery Store in Waterville where she was a Scan File Coordinator for many years. She retired at the age of 55 and enjoyed traveling to many exciting locales.

Evelyn was predeceased by her parents; husband, Roland; daughter, Tracey; siblings Eddie Jr., Betty and Frank.

She is survived by her loving son and wife, Mark and Lisa; grandchildren Kelli (Shawn) and Benjamin; great-grandchildren Elisha, Neveah and Malaki; her long-time partner, Grant Randall; brother and partner, Gene and Jen; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
