Ralph W. Campbell

LITCHFIELD – Ralph W. Campbell, 75, a resident of Litchfield, passed away at his home on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022. He was born in Lewiston on July 11, 1946, the son of Byron Ivan Campbell, Sr. and Mary Ella (Paine) Campbell.

He lived all his life in Litchfield and attended Litchfield Central School, Litchfield Academy and graduated from Monmouth Academy, class of 1964. Ralph retired from the Maine DOT garage in Augusta where he worked for over 30 years. He took great pride in his work and believed in a job done well and honestly. After retiring he enjoyed having time to tinker on his many automotive projects. He had a passion for anything Jeep-related as well as military vehicle history. In his younger years he enjoyed riding motorcycles and had one with a sidecar in which others enjoyed having a ride with him.

Ralph is survived by his loving sister, Deborah M Campbell of Litchfield, and several cousins, all of whom will miss him greatly. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Byron I Campbell, II.

Because Ralph lived and worked in the area all his life, he had many friends who have already let his sister know how much they enjoyed his friendship and his unique view of the world, and for that she is very appreciative. She also wished to thank the 911 dispatcher, Litchfield First Responders, Gardiner Ambulance service, and the Sheriff’s Department for their compassion and help.
