Kathleen Marie Begin
WINSLOW – Kathleen Marie Begin, 71, passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Feb 15, 2022. She was born on May 5, 1950 at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida to H. Richard Austin and Beverly (Glidden) Austin.Kathleen attended school in Winslow. She played the saxophone in the high school band, was in the glee club, was class secretary and vice president. She graduated from Winslow High School in 1968.After high school she married her first husband, Ken Desmond. The had three children, Kelly Ann, Kimberly Ann and Keith Richard. She had a day care while their children were young so she could be home with them. Kathleen sang for many years at St John’s Church in the adult choir and directed the children’s choir. She had such a beautiful voice and sang at several weddings, including all of her children’s. In 1985 Kathleen started nursing school. She was an oncology nurse for nearly 30 years. She dedicated her time, talent and compassion to every single patient.Kathleen was a gifted cake decorator. She made cakes for birthdays, weddings and special occasions. Everyone loved her creations!!Kathleen married Paul Begin on Dec 30, 1988. They have nine grandchildren and one great- granddaughter on the way. Their grandchildren were the love their lives, Sarah Morton (Bob), Austin Desmond (Kat), Jacob Gardner (Alyssa), Devin, Emily, and Jessica Garneau, Marissa, Samuel, and Gabriel Desmond.Kathleen is survived by her husband, Paul; her daughters, Kelly Gardner (Michael), Kimberly Garneau (Aaron), her son Keith Desmond; her sisters, Wauline Quick, Sandra Dugal (Jerry); her grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
