One of two young girls seriously injured Friday in a snowmobile crash in New Portland has been released from the hospital, according to the Maine Warden Service.
The girl, 10, was released Saturday afternoon from Maine Medical Center in Portland, while the other girl, who is 9, remains hospitalized there, Mark Latti, spokesman for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, said Sunday. The condition of the younger girl was not available, he said.
The crash happened Friday when the two were snowmobiling on family property off Millay Hill Road. The girls lost control of their Ski-Doo and crashed into trees, the Maine Warden Service said. Neither was wearing a helmet.
The girls were rushed to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, then flown by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center with head, chest and back trauma, authorities said.
The names and hometowns of the girls were not released.
