Hazel G. (St. Amand) Rackliff
AUGUSTA – Hazel G. (St. Amand) Rackliff, 95, of Augusta, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Feb. 8, 2022 at the Comfort Hospice Care unit at Glenridge in Augusta to her heavenly home. She was born August 21, 1926 in Limestone to Leon F and Eva Rose Cyr St. Amand. She grew up in Limestone surrounded by her large family. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Raoul, Roland, Rosario, Gilbert, Adrian, Michael, Joseph, Roger, Emery, sisters, Stella Caron, Theresa Raynes, Leona (Chick) Michaud; and five of her children, Rene Moreau, Maurice Moreau, James Moreau, Richard Moreau, Bonnie Gallant.She loved getting together with family and friends as often as possible. She believed it was very important to stay connected. She loved going to Bingo, traveling, taking pictures, baking for family and friends, and gardening. She loved birds and loved seeing different species at her feeders. She worked as a cook/baker in several restaurants, as an antiques dealer and for many years operated a day care center.She will be greatly missed by her family and especially her five surviving children, Louis Moreau of Fort Kent, Gloria Smith (Jerry) of Texas, Judy McAuley of Connecticut, Brenda Pridham (Gary) of Augusta, Gail Strout (Robert) of West Forks; one brother Norman St Amand, (Carol) of Brewer; son-in-law Jack Gallant of Florida, daughter-in-law Donna Moreau of Augusta. She was Mémère to many, many grandchildren and their children and each held a special place in her heart. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews whom were very fond of her. We would like to express a special thank you from her family to her nurses and caregivers at Alzheimer’s Care Center in Gardiner for the past five years of care. To The Hospice nurses at Comfort Care at Glenridge you were so incredibly compassionate and caring in her final days. A celebration of life will be held at a later time in early summer when family can come together.
