Diana Rose Somers
READFIELD – Diana Rose Somers, 88, died at Maine General on March 2, 2022, after a short illness.
She was born in Portsmouth, N.H. on Dec. 8, 1933, the daughter of Wesley and Cynthia (West) Ladd. She grew up in Belgrade, later residing in Readfield for 50 years.
She was employed by Lakeside Orchards, Camp Vega for Girls, and owned Ed’s Small Engine with her late husband for over 30 years.
She loved flowers and animals, especially her many adopted feline friends. Hobbies included crocheting, embroidery, quilting, and sewing.
She is survived by her son, Edwin W. Somers; her daughter’s children, Richard White and Diana Dean; one sister, Mildred Hollis; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and her beloved cat, Sam.
She was predeceased by her husband, T. Edwin Somers; her daughter, Cynthia L. Trehy; three brothers, Edward, Jack, and Andre Paul Walker.
Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 10 at the Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. Burial will be in the spring at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Augusta. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
