GARDINER — The Monkitree store is hosting “Rejuvenation,” a show of works by eight local artists.
With Rejuvenation, artists are sharing through their art what reinvigorates them, according to a news release from the gallery.
This show features the work of eight artists working in a variety of medium — photography, mixed media collage, fiber pulp painting, metal work. Artists include Karen Jordan Allen of Hallowell, Kathryn Beausang of Lewiston, Robin Brooks of Brunswick, Christine J. Higgins of Readfield, Payden Maddocks-Wilbur of Ellsworth, Matthew Sapirstein of Portland, Heidi Spadter of Canaan and Melissa Walden of Farmingdale.
Robin Brooks’ entries include a piece from her Foremothers Project.
Brooks explains, “I began to meditate on foremothers, influential women whose lives laid the path for me to live into my potential as a human, artist, and activist.”
The show can be seen through April 30 at Monkitree, 263 Water St., during regular March and April shop hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, as well as by appointment.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
