
The Maine Music Society Chorale, conducted by Dr. Richard Nickerson in his debut season as artistic director, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, and Sunday, March 27, at the Gendron Franco Center, 46 Cedar St. in Lewiston.
They will perform choral arrangements from the Renaissance era to the present, such as Handel’s and Beethoven’s triumphant versions of “Hallelujah,” plus familiar pieces by Mozart, Bach, and Tallis. Soprano Christy Comeau-Pierce, Tenor Brian Pfohl, and Bass Carl Steidel are the soloists rendering the angel voices in Haydn’s inspiring “The Heavens are Telling.” They also will perform music of several modern composers: Randall Thompson will take you down Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken;” Aaron Copeland’s “Zion’s Walls;” and Carl Orff’s “O Fortuna.”
Tickets cost $22 for adults, $20 for seniors, $10 for students, children younger than 12 will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
