
Kitty Cates
EMBDEN – Kitty Cates, 66, of Embden, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2022, at Maplecrest Rehabilitation & Living Center in Madison, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.She was born Sept. 29, 1955, in Skowhegan, the daughter of Gloria and Raymond Young, Sr. of Embden. Kitty attended schools in Embden and North Anson and graduated from Carrabec High School. She married Dale Cates on March 24, 1973 and they resided in Embden.Those who knew her will never forget her friendliness, compassion, and enthusiasm for life. Throughout her battle with Parkinson’s she met each challenge with courage, often thinking of others more than herself. Kitty loved the outdoors. She was an accomplished bowhunter and enjoyed fishing, hiking, snowshoeing, and spending time at her camp. She also enjoyed sewing, embroidering, crocheting, basket weaving and many other crafts. Kitty never missed an opportunity to watch a high school sports game and loved Harley Davidson’s and motorcycling.Kitty was predeceased by her father, Raymond Young Sr.; in-laws, Marjorie and Noel (Kickie) Cates; brother-in-law, Dean Cates; and several aunts and uncles.She is survived by her husband, Dale Cates of Embden; her son, Adam Cates and his wife Jessie of Embden; two granddaughters that she loved deeply, Ashley and Jayden; her mother, Gloria Young; sister, Kim Babnaw and her husband Rick, sister, Gayle Pinkham and her husband Alan; brother, Raymond Young Jr. and wife Pamela; sister-in-law Penny Wyatt and husband Jan; a special uncle, Lawrence Atwood, Jr.; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.In honor of Kitty’s request, no services are planned.The family wishes to express their gratitude to the entire staff and her many friends at Maplecrest Rehabilitation & Living Center in Madison, for the support, comfort and care she received.
