When it comes to running for office, creating sustainable change, or overcoming challenges within communities, large barriers can hinder progress, according to Democracy Maine.

The grassroots partnership has designed a three-part virtual series to address these roadblocks and give everyday Mainers the tools they need to empower themselves and their towns. These educational workshops, scheduled to take place over three weeks, are designed to fit the schedules of working Mainers.

The following free workshops begin at 6 p.m. , materials and recordings will be available after the sessions: Local Action #1: Running For Office, Thursday, April 21; Local Action #2: Creating Local Change, Thursday, April 28; and Local Action #3: Overcoming Challenges, Thursday, May 5.

The League of Women Voters of Maine, Maine Citizens for Clean Elections, and Maine Students Vote, in collaboration as Democracy Maine, work together to make government more equitable, inclusive, and accessible by improving elections, protecting and engaging voters, and reducing the influence of private money in politics.
