St. Michael Parish plans to host a pair of free events aimed at celebrating Earth Day and humanity’s “common home.”
The parish’s Social Justice Commission invites all to a virtual session scheduled for 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, titled “Integral Ecology: Pursuing the Common Good for Our Common Home,” according to a news release from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland.
The session will be facilitated by Frank Cuff, a member of the St. Michael Social Justice Commission.

On Saturday, April 23, people are encouraged to gather from 9 a.m. to noon on the grounds of St. Joseph Church, 110 School Street in Gardiner, for a clean up session.
Additional events, like plantings and other clean up sessions at parish and public properties, are planned for later in the spring.
St. Michael Parish includes St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Augusta; St. Augustine Church, Augusta; St. Joseph Church, Gardiner; Sacred Heart Church, Hallowell; St. Denis Church, Whitefield; and St. Francis Xavier Church, Winthrop.
