DETROIT & AUGUSTA – Marjorie Allen (Martin) Gerry died April 12, 2022. She was born Oct. 22, 1934, in Fort Smith, Arkansas the only child born to Richard Theodore Martin and Marjorie Allen Davis Martin. She graduated from high school in Little Rock, Arkansas and went to secretarial school in Wichita Kansas where she met her husband Lemont Ralph Gerry. They were married for 44 years and had four children. She and Lemont shared a tremendous love of horses, and it was a driving force in both their lives. The family moved frequently all over the plain states of Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado where Lemont worked in the cattle industry. Lemont and Marjorie returned to Maine in 1991 to be close to the Gerry family origins in the Detroit area. She enjoyed her horses, dogs, knitting and making blankets before rheumatoid arthritis made it difficult to stay as active as she would have liked. She always enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She also continued pursuing educational interests throughout her life. She enjoyed a good crossword puzzle and a good game of scrabble with Dad! She is survived by her special sister-in-law “sis” Althea Gerry Tibbetts, and sister-in-law Norma Gerry Fletcher; four children and their families: son, Lemont Ralph Gerry, Jr. and wife Sandra of Pittsfield; daughter Jennie Dell Gerry Alkire of Dallas, Texas; daughter Marjorie Kathleen Gerry Farmer of Windsor, Colorado; and son Martin Stanley Gerry and his wife Michelina of Wales; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.She was predeceased by her parents and husband Lemont.Marjorie is also survived by special friends, Sue Ladwig, Ina Austin, Arlene Jackson and David Blanchard and many other card playing friends! Graveside services and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
