William “Billy” Rogers

WINTHROP – William “Billy” Rogers, 43, died Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Alfond Center For Health in Augusta. He was born in Augusta on August 18, 1978, the son of William Norman Rogers and Annette Barney.

Billy grew up in Winthrop and was a 1997 graduate of Winthrop High School, where he played and excelled in football for the Ramblers. He was selected to play in the Lobster Bowl his senior year, an honor that made him and his family very proud.

In 1998, Billy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his Country until his honorable discharge in 2008. Billy often recounted how much he enjoyed living in North Carolina during the years he served in the Marines.

Not only did Billy play football, he had a passion for watching it as well and was an avid New York Giants fan. Another thing that gave him pleasure was his 1970 Chevy Chevelle Super Sport. However, of all the pleasures he enjoyed, none rivaled the love he had for his children and his family.

Billy is survived by his parents; his children, twins Brett and Hunter Rogers and Natalie Rogers, all of Winthrop; the mother of his children, Cora Rogers; his sister, Amy Bolduc and her husband Gary of Augusta; his aunts, Liz Reiten, Rachel Tremblay, Sue Nguyen and Cathy Rosen and her husband Mark, his uncles, Norman Barney and James Rogers; and nephews Caleb and Carson Bolduc.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10 at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, where a memorial service will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by a committal service with full military honors at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Ave., Augusta.
