Kennebec Land Trust and the Hallowell Conservation Commission plan to host Barbara Vickery, co-editor of “Birds of Maine,” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 10.
The presentation and discussion — to be held at the Cohen Community Center, 22 Town Farm Road in Hallowell — will cover the book and conservation priorities in the state of Maine.
The book was written by the late Peter Vickery and several distinguished co-authors and editors, according to a news release from the trust. The book offers a detailed look at Maine’s 464 bird species.
The guide is illustrated with watercolors by Lars Jonsson and line drawings by Barry Van Dusen.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
