Matt Gilbert, Regional School Unit 2’s new superintendent, is scheduled to host community forums in Hallowell, Richmond and Monmouth in advance of the June school budget vote, in an effort to connect with community stakeholders who have a vested interest in the success of these schools.
Those who attend can hear about the budget, future plans, and district celebrations. They can ask Gilbert questions related to these topics, according to a news release from RSU 2.
According to Gilbert, “Engaging our communities in our educational system strengthens our community and offers mutual benefit. I am very passionate about the work that RSU2 is doing and these morning meetings will be part of other forums that will be planned in the near future.”
Light refreshments will be provided.
The forums are set for 9 a.m. at the following dates and locations: Tuesday, May 10, at Cumston Hall, 796 Main St, in Monmouth; Wednesday, May 11, Cohen Senior Center, 22 Town Farm Road, in Hallowell; and Thursday, May 12, Richmond Area Senior Center, 314 Front St.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
