CHINA — A house fire Wednesday evening destroyed a building on Morrill Road but did not result in any injuries, officials said.
China Village Fire Chief Joel Nelson said that the department got called out to the fire at 37 Morrill Road at about 6 p.m. Wednesday. The owner of the home was outside the small single-story house doing yard work when the fire started.
He was not injured, and his cat was also able to escape the fire, Nelson said.
Nelson described the home as a “total loss” following the blaze. The firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire, but while the structure was still standing, there was significant damage and the inside was extensively charred.
Firefighters were not able to determine the cause of the fire due to the damage inside, Nelson said.
