CHESTERVILLE — Local nature researcher/writer, illustrator, and distance runner Bernd Heinrich is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. Friday, May 20, at the Chesterville Center Meeting House, 3 Borough Road.
An Evening With Bernd Heinrich will feature the Weld resident’s reflections on the importance area towns have played in his work and life, as well as his answers to audience questions about any of his books, or about life in general.
Since he has over the past 40-odd years published 22 books on a vast array of subjects, questions might be about topics as diverse as ravens, forest ecology, hibernation, honey bees, bird nests, the life/death cycle in nature, migration, his forest in Weld, or numerous other nature topics and phenomena.
A life-long world record-setting distance runner, Heinrich’s 2021 “Racing the Clock” reflects on the significance running has played throughout his life, from his youth at the Good Will Hinckley School through the 50-km race he ran last November, and introduces the notion that recreational running has the potential to unify humanity.
The Chesterville Center Meeting House is run by volunteers as a nonprofit community events center. The building is wheelchair accessible and has restroom facilities.
Admission to this event is free and open to the public, and donations are always welcome; refreshments will be available.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
