MONMOUTH — The 36th annual May Faire, a community event sponsored by Friends of Cumston Public Library, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Cumston Hall, 796 Main St
Featured will be homegrown perennials from local gardens and annuals from area greenhouses. Food will include lobster rolls, hamburgers and hot dogs.
There will be activities for children, and several community groups and local artisans will have offerings. A bake sale will offer items from the United Church, and gently used books will be sold.
The event will be held rain or shine, and all activities except the book sale will be outdoors. All proceeds support programs of the library.
The Friends are also accepting donations of perennials plants for the event. People can leave donated plants at the Cumston Hall lot from Thursday to Saturday, May 18-21, and label the plants with the plant name and color of blossoms if applicable.
Hosta, rhubarb, bleeding hearts, irises and herbs are strong sellers, according to a news release from the library.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
