AUGUSTA — The GoldStars Tribute Wall is scheduled to be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, May 29, and from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, May 30, at the Augusta Elks Lodge, 397 Civic Center Drive.
An opening ceremony is set for 10 a.m. May 29.
Food will be provided at no cost around lunch time on both days.
The wall is a traveling memorial to honor service members who have fallen while serving in the United States military since the beginning of the Gulf War — Iraq and Afghanistan.
This memorial project will continue to add names to the memorial through to the present, according to a news release from the Tribute to America’s Fallen Foundation in Hoschton, Georgia.

For questions about the event, call James Orr, the head of the committee bringing the tribute wall to Maine, at 207-480-0438.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
