David Irvin Hathaway
LAKE PARK, Ga. – David Irvin Hathaway, 66, of Lake Park, Ga. passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on Sept. 10, 1955, in Valdosta, Ga. to the late Donald S. and Gladys Doris (Baker) Hathaway.
He worked as a service technician with Fire Safety, Inc. and was an avid Atlanta Falcons fan who never gave up on the Super Bowl. Everyone knew he was a friend to all but would always give his opinion on politics and life.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Hathaway, sister, Sandra Herman and brother, Michael Hathaway.
He is survived by his son, Edgar Hathaway of Valdosta, Ga.; three brothers, Jim Hathaway (Lorna) of Valdosta, Gene Hathaway (Cherie) of Valdosta, and Brian Hathaway of Valdosta; and a number of nieces and nephews.
“When David was a boy, we lived in Maine for several years. David would often spend time at Grammy Hathaway’s on the Old Brunswick Road and sometimes at Camp Racket on Pleasant Pond. Myself, Michael and David took turns during summer recess to go fishing and swimming, but most of all to bathe in the love of a grandmother that taught us to pray and in Christ’s name to experience the Love of God. Powerful memories for grandchildren. Often David would remind me of things that I had forgotten. We were truly blessed. Jimmie”
No formal services will be held.
