PITTSTON – Darrell Scott Hanson, 41, of Pittston, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 27, 2022. He was born in Augusta on Nov. 13, 1980, the son of Ralph Hanson and Belinda Gilley Biondillo.

Darrell attended Gardiner Area Schools and later became a valued part of Gary Norris Flooring in Augusta. He became proficient in any type of flooring and tile work. He eventually brought his younger brother, Gary, into the business.

Darrell was an avid sports fan, especially Stock Car Racing. He became an intricate part of local race teams including his father, Johnny Clark, Gary Norris, Jr. and recently Matt Beers. He also enjoyed a good game of golf with friends. He was a huge animal lover, especially his beloved dog and best friend, Charlie.

Darrell was a kindhearted man with a great sense of humor. Few people got to see that side of him. When he was your friend, you meant the world to him.

Darrell was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Earle Gilley, paternal grandparents Darrell and Margaret Hanson; his special cousin, Chadwick MacMaster; and best friend, Mitchell Weston.

He will be greatly missed by his parents, stepfather, Ed Biondillo; brother, Gary and sister-in-law, Shari; son, Ethan; step-grandmother, Sharon Rowling; aunts Kathy Hanson and son Shane, Bridgette Gilley, Dawn (Doug) MacMaster, Shelley Gilley; step-uncles Todd (Lisa) Pierce, Walter “Bub” (Betty) Pierce; and, many cousins.

A celebration of Darrell’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner.
