The Union Fair seeks eligible ladies to compete for the 2022 Maine Wild Blueberry Queen Title. This year’s competition is scheduled for Friday, July 29, with the coronation ceremony being held at 7 p.m., according to a news release from competition organizers.
Requirements to compete are as follows:
• Ladies between 17 and 25 years old;
• ladies in high school can compete;
• ladies have to be a resident of Maine;
• ladies that are married or single can compete;
• ladies must to have an interest in the wild blueberry industry;
• ladies are required to get at least one sponsorship by a Maine Wild Blueberry grower or processor — sponsorship totaling $150; and
• the Blueberry Queen is expected to be present for various events throughout the year representing the Maine Wild Blueberry Industry.
Along with the title of 2022 Maine Wild Blueberry Queen, the winner will also receive a $1750 cash prize.
The deadline for candidate applications is Sunday, July 17.
