Joan (Godfrey) Deming

LITCHFIELD – Joan (Godfrey) Deming, formerly of Litchfield, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022, in Fountain Valley, Calif. with her family by her side.

Joan was born in Litchfield on July 7, 1938, daughter of the late Roland and Leona (Fish) Godfrey. She attended the Litchfield school system and graduated from Gordon College with a teaching degree.

She married William Deming on June 23,1961. She was an avid sports fan and had a very kind heart and was always helping those in need.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, William; brothers Robert and Elwin Godfrey and sister-in-law, Eleanor Godfrey.

Joan is survived by her three sons, Rick (Sauni), Dan and James (Yehn); six grandchildren, Rick (Robin), Andrew (Rebecca), Sarah, Abigail, Jonathan and Jacob; and one great-grandchild, August, all of California. She is also survived by her Maine family, sister-in-law, Nancy Godfrey; nieces Patty Rourke, Elizabeth Godfrey, Monica Gorman, Amy Bryant, Faye Trafton and nephews Peter Godfrey, Paul Godfrey; and several cousins.

A combined graveside service for Joan Godfrey Deming and Eleanor Godfrey will be at the Plains Cemetery, Plains Road in Litchfield on July 1 at 10 a.m.
