Stephen P. Sanborn
WASHINGTON – Stephen P. Sanborn, 75, died Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Veterans Affairs Medical and Regional Office Center at Togus following a long illness.
He was born in Augusta on Oct. 17, 1946 a son of the late Percy P. Sanborn, Jr. and Louise U. (Grotton) Sanborn.
Mr. Sanborn was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Viet Nam War. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years before becoming disabled.
Mr. Sanborn was predeceased by his wife, Mary J. (Casper) Sanborn and his two sisters, Suzanne and Janice.
He is survived by his children Philip J. Sanborn and Stephen C. Sanborn, both of Washington and Susan (Mark) Griffies of Philadelphia, Pa.; his grandchildren Michael, Ethan (Gianna), Josh, Brody and Ashley; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and many special friends.
At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 19 at 10 a.m. at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, Windsor Chapel, 983 Ridge Rd., Route 32, Windsor.
