WATERVILLE — A man was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound following the report of a shooting on Pleasant Street early Saturday morning.

Police responded to Pleasant Street around 3 a.m. Saturday in response to a report of shots being fired.

A man was transported from the scene with a gunshot wound, according to Waterville Sgt. Joshua Woods, and taken to Thayer Center for Health.

Detectives are investigating the incident. Woods said Saturday morning police were not, at that time, releasing any more information.

Somerset County emergency dispatching records indicate there were five reports of shots fired on or near Pleasant Street between 3:05 a.m. and 3:11 a.m. Saturday.
