
Skowhegan-Madison Elks Lodge 2531 volunteer members built above ground vegetable planters in June for the tenants of Springhouse Gardens, a senior living apartment.
These planters, filled by Laney Construction, aim to allow tenants to use their previous gardening experience by planting and maintaining their section of the garden, effectively lowing their food bills, according to a news releases from the Elks.
A grant was provided by the Elks National Foundation to fund the cost of the planters.
