
Members of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 39 in Madison are collecting school supplies for children and for the classrooms in their local schools, Madison — School Administrative District 59 and Carrabec — Regional School Unit 74.
A list of suggested items includes rulers, erasers, pencils, colored pencils, ink pens (blue, black and red), water bottles (no larger than 20 ounces) crayons, glue sticks, backpacks, pencil pouches for binders, one-inch binders, one-subject notebooks, college and standard ruled filler paper, box of tissues, wipes, and Post-It notes, according to a news release from the auxiliary.
Auxiliary members will be collecting donations until September.
The collection box also will be at their booth in the grassy area beside Skowhegan Savings Bank in Madison during Madison/Anson Days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20.
Items can be dropped off in the collection box at the Madison American Legion Hall at 20 South Maple St. after 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
