Glenn W. Peterson
READFIELD – Glenn W. Peterson, 64, of Readfield, died July 27, 2022 after a long journey with MS. His family will be forever grateful for the compassion shown by all the healthcare angels at MaineGeneral as Glenn ended that journey.
“O Death, where is thy sting”
Born Dec. 12, 1957 in Northampton, Mass., Glenn was the second of four children. His parents were John and Lois Peterson. When not greeting his father from the top of the tallest tree in their yard, Glenn could be found popping wheelies with his self-customized Stingray bike. Eventually the bike was replaced by a 1969 Firebird and a Harley, much to his parents’ dismay.
Glenn learned the value of money early on and was always thrifty. He had a strong work ethic and was known to be a dedicated employee from his first job through his last.
Another constant in Glenn’s life was the family camp built by his father on Parker Pond. He loved swimming, boating, fishing, sitting on the dock with a cold beer, and eating the occasional lobster. No clams though! At the time of his death, Glenn was working with his brother to ensure the camp would stay within the family for the next and future generations of Petersons to enjoy.
Glenn was predeceased by his father, John; and brother, Mark.
Family surviving him is his wife Karen, who he married in 1986; his mother, Lois; his sister, Ellen and husband Jerry, his brother, David and wife Lynn, his sister-in-law, Diane; eight nieces, one nephew; three great-nephews, one great-niece; several cousins; and his sister-in-law Cathy and husband Doug. Glenn cherished them all. May his memory be eternal.
Friends and family are invited to a graveside service for Glenn on Monday, August 1 at 2 p.m. in the Baldwin Hill Conservation Cemetery located in Fayette.
“The Wheel is turning and you can’t slow down
You can’t let go and you can’t hold on
You can’t go back and you can’t stand still
If the thunder don’t get you then the lightning will”
