Laurie Burhoe, Kennebec Estuary Land Trust’s garden coordinator, plans this month to teach a recipe to make a brine to pickle a variety of vegetables from the garden.
The event will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the LOCAL Garden, located at the corner of High and Lemont streets in Bath.
Pickles can be fun to make and easy to eat, according to a news release from the trust. The choice is to make savory dilly beans or spicy pickles.
Supplies will be provided to make and bring home jars of pickled produce.
Participants can bring a picnic lunch to have at the garden following the program. There is a $5 suggested donation to cover the cost of materials.
This is a light rain or shine event. Because of limited capacity, registration is recommended by visiting kennebecestuary.org/upcoming-events or by calling 207-442-8400.
This program was sponsored by the Merrymeeting Bay Trust and the Whole Kids Foundation.
