SKOWHEGAN — Maine Grains, a gristmill producing organic and heritage grains sourced from the Northeast, plans to hold a community event Saturday, Sept. 10, at 42 Court St., to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
Maine Grains was founded in 2012 with the goal of leading a new generation of farmers and food producers in the fertile grounds of Skowhegan. Their products are designed to help support a healthy community and local economy.
Over the past 10 years, Maine Grains has created jobs, improved land use and provided healthy food for all, according to a news release from Emma Dimock of Marshall Communications.
“We’re excited to be celebrating our 10th anniversary and spending some time this year to pause, reflect and celebrate this milestone,” said Amber Lambke, president and CEO at Maine Grains. “There is going to be great music, great food, grain demonstrations, pasta making and the Skowhegan Farmer’s Market is full, festive and fun.”
The celebration will kick off at 8 a.m. with the opening of The Miller’s Table Café. The Skowhegan Farmers’ Market and the Maine Grains Dry Goods Shop will open at 9 a.m., followed by remarks by Lambke at 10 a.m.
A pasta demo with The Maine Meal will begin at 11 a.m.; a pizza demo with The Good Crust will follow at noon. There will be live fiddle music from Frigate, yard games and more.
