Theresa “Terry” (Guerette) Morrison
WINTHROP – Theresa “Terry” (Guerette) Morrison, passed away peacefully on Aug. 21, 2022, at the age of 96.
Terry was born Dec. 15, 1925, in Winthrop, Maine, the oldest child of Charles and Julia (Currier) Guerette.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles P. Morrison; brothers, Robert, Raymond, Roger, and Lawrence Guerette; and sisters-in-law, Gail and Geri Guerette.
Terry is survived by her daughter Marcia Seavey and her husband Roland of Moose River; grandson Charles Seavey and his wife Laura and great-granddaughter Amelia of West Forks, Maine; sister Lorraine (Guerette) Haag of Saratoga, New York; sisters-in-law Ellen and Betty Guerette of Winthrop; and several wonderful nieces and nephews.
Terry shared a love of their camp at Northeast Carry with Chuck, was a member of a most talented group of women called Stitch ’n Bi**ch of Turner, and was an artist in her own right but politics hovered over all.
This eventually helped her find her way to being Secretary to the Governor’s Council under the Honorable John H. Reed until the council was dissolved. Terry continued to serve the State of Maine in the Senate as a page, then as the first female Senate Sargent at Arms in the United States. She served for a total of 26 years in those capacities.
During her retirement years she remained active as the Senate Protocol Consultant Advisor for Parliamentary Procedures. She made sure her grandson was exposed to the legislative process at the tender age of two when he brought down the gavel with Senate President Charlie Pray of Millinocket.
Special recognition to the staff at Glenridge Nursing and Rehabilitation and MaineGeneral Hospice for their outstanding compassion, patience, and love for Terry. Thank you!
Private burial will be in Glenside Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop, Maine, 04364 where memories and condolences may be shared with the family at http://www.khrfuneralhome.com.
