Joan Ashby

WINTHROP – Joan Ashby, 81, passed peacefully on Aug. 14, 2022 with family by her side. Joan has always been tough and strong and remained that way until the end.

She enjoyed going to the casinos with her sister and taking long car rides with no destination. She loved spending time with her friends listening and dancing to Steve and The Good Ole Boys. Joan worked at Saunders Manufacturing for 40 years, retiring in 2016.

She is survived by her two daughters, Roberta Hawkes (husband Peter Hawkes) and Sherry Zarella, son, Leroy “Bubba” Ashby; grandchildren Tasha Mangin (Scott Smith) and Dylan Zarella; great-grandson, Tucker Smith; her sister, Winnie Bechard; several nieces, nephews; and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Readfield Town Office on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 12 p.m.
