David L. Merrill

ANSON – David L. Merrill, 64, passed away peacefully at his home on Sept. 5, 2022. He was born on Nov. 21, 1957, in Skowhegan, the son of Richard and Dawn Merrill. He graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 1976.

David spent his life self- employed, working in the woods. You could almost always find him surrounded by trees with his skidder close by. He enjoyed everything about the woods. If he wasn’t working in them, he was fishing and/or hunting with his boys and close friends by his side.

He is survived by his mother, Dawn Merrill; his loving wife of 43 years, Darlene Merrill; their three sons, Drew Merrill (Gretchen), Devin Merrill (Miranda) and Dylan Merrill (Amy); sisters Darlene Nolan (Lewis), Debbie Joensen (Jonhard), brothers Dana Merrill (Vicki), Dannie Merrill (Laura), Dwayn Merrill (Brianna), and Dale Merrill; seven grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; and many close friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Richard Merrill.

A service will be held at the Malachai House located at 31 Madison Ave., Madison on Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. There will be a celebration of life to follow at the VFW in Madison starting at 5 p.m.
