AUGUSTA — Members of the Koussinoc Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution joined the staff of the First Amendment Museum Sept. 15 to celebrate the 235th birthday of the U.S. Constitution with one of the DAR’s long-standing traditions, Bells Across America.
Every year, Daughters from across the nation gather to ring bells in a short ceremony on Constitution Day to celebrate the “supreme law of the land.”
Any woman who can trace her direct lineage to an ancestor proven to have served in some way for the patriot cause of the American Revolution is eligible to join the DAR. If interested, call Regent Bonnie Wilder at 207-685-4483 to leave contact information.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
