The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust plans to host the public at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the LOCAL Garden for a Growing Great Garlic workshop.
The event will be held at the corner of High and Lemont streets in Bath. Led by Garden Coordinator Laurie Burhoe, this workshop will discuss and showcase the best practices for growing great garlic in Maine, according to a news release from the trust.
Topics during the workshop will include garlic varieties, soil preparation, planting, mulching, harvesting and curing. Seed stock will be available with a suggested $5 donation to support the garden.
Burhoe has been involved with the LOCAL Garden since 2010 and became KELT’s garden coordinator in 2016. As a master gardener, she works with children, adults and families to care for the LOCAL Garden and teach gardening techniques.
This is a light rain or shine event. To sign up, visit kennebecestuary.org or call 207-442-8400.
